New York, NY –
On Thursday, April 2nd, Spottiswoode & His Enemies presented their most ambitious show to date…
“Above Hell’s Kitchen.” An Opera!
Presented at Joe’s Pub as a staged concert/reading in two acts, the show featured the band plus a cast of six.
“Yes, I know it’s an ambitious project,” said Spottiswoode before the show. “It’s kind of a gothic surrealist dream play set to music. If I’m lucky I’ll make a complete fool of myself.”
Perhaps he did. But the other singers and musicians on stage mesmerized the packed house.
The cast included the formidable talents of Martha Redbone, Meghan McGeary, Kyra Climbingbear, Max Low, and Don Dilego.
Anthony Patellis narrated.
The band was also joined by their good friend, Konrad Meissner, on drums.
Hayley Finn directed. And Enemy#5, Riley McMahon, was the musical director.
Stay tuned for further operatic developments…
